Yesterday, our Educational Psychologists had the privilege of presenting an engaging workshop to our Grade 7 learners on one of the most important topics facing young people today – social media

Together, we explored how social media can impact our mental health, discussed the risks of our digital world, and shared practical strategies for staying safe online. From understanding digital footprints and recognising online dangers to promoting kindness and responsible online behaviour, our learners were encouraged to think critically about the choices they make in the digital space.

Our goal is to empower learners with the knowledge and confidence to navigate social media safely while protecting their wellbeing.

A huge thank you to our Grade 7s for their enthusiasm, thoughtful participation, and insightful discussions. We are proud of the maturity and curiosity they brought to the workshop.

Who knew Maths could be so delicious? 😄

Our Grade 5 learners had so much fun building 3D shapes using marshmallows and toothpicks. This creative activity helped them explore vertices, edges, and faces. The biggest challenge wasn’t making the shapes… it was resisting the urge to eat the marshmallows first! 😆

Our TOC students showcased their culinary talents by preparing delicious butter cookies and decadent chocolate mousse. 🍪🍫

To add the finishing touch, they demonstrated their creativity and precision with beautiful sugar work, transforming their desserts into edible works of art.

Well done to our talented students for their hard work, attention to detail, and growing confidence in the kitchen! 👏

This week our Grade R learners had an exciting time exploring patterns through hands-on learning! They created colourful patterns using blocks and threaded them to strengthen their fine motor skills.

In Life Skills, they learnt about different types of transport by creating a sky, land and sea scene before sorting each vehicle into its correct environment. ✈️🚗⛴️

We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, creativity, and hard work.

**Progress, Not Perfection 💙**

In therapy, we celebrate so much more than the "big" milestones.

We celebrate the first time a child says a sound they've been practising for weeks. The moment they confidently answer a question. The extra minute they stay focused. The pencil grip that finally feels comfortable. The courage to try again after making a mistake.

Progress isn't always loud or obvious. Sometimes it's found in the little moments that others might miss - but to us, they're worth celebrating.

Every child learns differently, develops at their own pace, and follows their own unique journey. Our role isn't to rush that journey, but to support, encourage, and celebrate every step along the way.

Because those small victories today become the big achievements tomorrow. 🌟

NEWS FLASH: Mandela Day Charity Drive Takes a Bold Pivot!
67 Dignity Packs & A Whole Month of Giving
In honor of Nelson Mandela Day, our school community is stepping up to make a powerful impact! We are officially launching our charity drive to create 67 Dignity Packs for individuals in need, symbolizing the 67 years Madiba spent fighting for social justice.
Each dignity pack will be filled with essential hygiene items and care products to support and uplift members of our local community.
The Great Pivot: Welcome to Nelson Mandela Month!
True to our school theme of "Pivoting" and adapting to make an even bigger difference, we aren't stopping at just one day. We are expanding our efforts into a full Nelson Mandela Month throughout August!
This extension gives every class, student, and family extra time to contribute, organize, and ensure our 67 dignity packs are packed with care and generosity.
How You Can Help
Donate: Bring in key items (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary products, facecloths, and deodorants).
Volunteer: Join us during August packing sessions to assemble the dignity packs.
Spread the Word: Encourage friends and family to join our effort!
"What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others."
— Nelson Mandela
Let's pivot together and make this August a month to remember! Drop-off bins are located at the main reception.
