👩‍🍳🍞 Consumer Studies Cooking Prac Time Again! 🍫✨

Our newbie Grade 10s stepped into the kitchen at Olive Branch Cooking School and are already laying the foundation for much success in the kitchen! 👏

Today’s delicious menu included:
🥖 Fresh homemade bread
🍰 Fun mini chocolate cakes
🥔 Crispy fritters

Lots of learning, laughter, teamwork and creativity filled the kitchen today. We are so proud of the enthusiasm and effort shown by our young chefs as they continue building confidence and important culinary skills. 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳

📚 Amanuensis Training at Synaptic College

Our educators recently completed Amanuensis training through SACAI, strengthening an important part of the support we provide to our students.

An amanuensis assists a learner during assessments by, for example, recording answers exactly as they are given, without prompting or influencing the response. This ensures that assessments measure a student’s knowledge and understanding, rather than their ability to write quickly or manage other barriers.

Providing the right support structures for learners is a core part of what we do, and ongoing training ensures our educators continue to offer ethical, professional, and effective support to students who require accommodations. 🌱

🍳✨ Consumer Studies in Action! ✨🍳

Our Grade 11 and 12 Consumer Studies students recently enjoyed an inspiring practical session at Olive Branch Cooking School.

Cooking has a wonderful way of transforming students. In the kitchen they develop planning, teamwork, time management, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

The best moment is seeing their faces light up as they step back and admire the dishes they have created — students truly beam with pride. 🌟👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Cooking is so much more than preparing food. It is a valuable life skill that builds confidence, independence, and a real sense of accomplishment. 🍴💛

Fridays look a little different here… and we love it. ✨

Consolidation.
Remediation.
Support where it’s actually needed.

Students attend if there’s a gap to close, a concept to revisit, or confidence to build.
No busywork. No ticking boxes. Just real, meaningful support. 🎯

Meanwhile, teachers get space to breathe, prep for the week ahead, and talk through student progress as a team. 🤝📚
