Poultry at this yearโs Royal Show will look a little different!
With October falling during the breeding season for show poultry, the traditional show-poultry exhibition is taking a break for 2026. Instead, weโre turning the spotlight onto an enormously important part of South African agriculture: ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐น๐๐ฟ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป.
In collaboration with the KZN Poultry Institute, the Royal Show will offer visitors a practical introduction to two key poultry production systems:
๐ฃ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ โ chickens raised for egg production
๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ถ๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ โ chickens raised for meat
See ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐, follow different stages of poultry production, and learn more about the feeding, housing, management and skills that go into producing the eggs and chicken we see on supermarket shelves every day.
And for anyone thinking about expanding into the ๐ฏ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐น๐๐ฟ๐, there will also be information on poultry training and courses. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore some of the modern technology and equipment used in commercial production, supplied by companies such as Big Dutchman Southern Africa.
