Congratulations to Sophia, who was recently presented with the Fellowship Award at a recent tournament after selflessly giving up her horse so that another player could continue competing when her horse was injured. What a wonderful example of sportsmanship.

Last week was an emotional yet exciting one for our Grade 9s (and their families!) as they set off on their much-anticipated uHambo adventure.
uHambo is St John’s D.S.G.’s three-week, 200 km journey from the Drakensberg to Lesotho. Along the way, our girls will be entirely self-sufficient, carrying everything they need - food, clothing, and shelter - on their backs.
We wish them, and their leaders, an incredible journey filled with lasting memories, forged friendships, and valuable life lessons.
To walk is to pray. 💛

Yesterday our Parents' Association hosted the most beautiful "Brushstrokes and Blooms" painting afternoon in honour of Women’s Day.
Created especially for our St John's D.S.G. moms and daughters, local artist and SJS mum Carrie Bennett lovingly guided our ladies through a relaxed and creative afternoon filled with laughter, connection and plenty of colour.
More than just a painting session, it was a lovely opportunity for moms and daughters of all ages to slow down, get to know one another, and enjoy a little creativity side by side, and judging by the stunning artwork that came out of the afternoon, we have some seriously talented artists in our community! 💛

At St John's D.S.G., we are surrounded by extraordinary women. The teachers who pour into our girls, the staff who show up with dedication, and the young women in our classrooms who are powerfully growing into the leaders of tomorrow.
To every woman in our St John's D.S.G. family, a BIG "thank you" for the strength you carry, the grace you show, and the difference you make by simply being you.
Happy Women's Day! 💛

💛Feel Good Friday - uHambo Then and Now💛
In 2017, our Grade R girls, lovingly guided by then Grade R teacher, Miss Kristy Burt, took part in their very own version of uHambo, just like the "big girls". What started as a fun introduction to one of St John's D.S.G.'s treasured traditions in 2015, has continued ever since, giving our youngest Eaglets a small taste of the incredible journey that awaits them in Grade 9.
Fast-forward eight years, and those same girls are now preparing to swap hiking around the school grounds for the real thing. With their boots laced up and backpacks packed, they are ready to embark on the epic 21-day uHambo adventure. We'd like to think that first little march around the school was excellent preparation for what's to come!
It was especially meaningful to welcome Miss Burt back to St John's D.S.G. to reunite with her former pupils and wish them well as they set off on this unforgettable journey.
We wish all our uHambo adventurers and staff a wonderful, safe and rewarding experience. May it be filled with challenge, growth, laughter and memories to last a lifetime.

This week our Senior Primary girls took to the stage in "Born to Be”- our Senior Primary Cultural Showcase.
More than a performance, it was a celebration of courage, creativity and the unique gifts of every girl. Through Drama, Art and Music, our girls have grown in confidence, resilience and self-belief, discovering the joy of creative expression.
A BIG "thank you" to our Showcase Director, Mrs Phindile Ndimande, Technical Director, Mrs Anica Scholtz, Director of Music, Ms Marina Solomon, and every teacher, staff member, parent and supporter who helped bring this special production to life. 💛

Our Junior Open A "Yellow Sticks" recently took part in the Nika Coertzen Hockey Festival in Bloemfontein, an event that brought together 32 of the country's top Junior School Hockey teams.
With separate U12 and U13 sections, the standard of Hockey was exceptionally high, providing our girls with a wonderful opportunity to test themselves against strong opposition. As one of only a few schools to field a combined U12 and U13 team, they faced some tough competition. Throughout the festival, our girls showed great courage, determination, and sportsmanship, taking on older, more experienced players with confidence and enthusiasm.
We are incredibly proud of the way our girls represented the school. Their teamwork, resilience, and positive attitude made for a memorable weekend of Hockey and invaluable learning experiences against some of the best young players in the country. Well done, girls!💛
