Our Grade 9 learners recently visited the International Curiosity Science Cube, hosted at the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Agricultural Campus in Pietermaritzburg.

The Science Cube is regarded as one of the world's most innovative mobile science laboratories, offering learners an exciting, interactive, and hands-on experience that inspires curiosity and a deeper appreciation for science and technology.

Although Mandela Day, observed annually on 18 July, fell during the school winter holidays, Nizamia Islamic School marked the occasion after reopening on 21 July with a meaningful community outreach initiative.

Learners generously donated tinned food, bread, stationery and hygiene packs, which were distributed to less privileged learners in the community.

The initiative encouraged learners to embrace the values of Ubuntu, compassion, generosity and social responsibility while honouring Nelson Mandela's enduring legacy of service to others. Through this project, learners were reminded that Ubuntu "I am because we are" is expressed through caring for others, and that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
