It’s always a privilege to welcome our past pupils back to Epworth; last week we were joined by Josie Makkink (Class of 2018).

Josie led an interactive and practical workshop with our staff, exploring how AI can be used as a teaching ally by helping teachers streamline lesson planning, create personalised learning experiences, and enhance student engagement.

In her role as Director of Up Tutors, Josie brings expertise in CAPS, IEB, and Cambridge tutoring, alongside her background in Psychology and counselling. She also works with teams on communication styles, neurodivergence, feedback skills and building self-efficacy in students.

We are proud to see an Epworthian using her skills and experience to support educators and young people — carrying the Epworth values of faith, compassion, and courage into all that she does.

Congratulations to Bianca Hillermann (Class of 2023) ❤️💙
We are delighted to share that Bianca has been named the 2026 Student of the Year at the Jackie Cameron School of Food & Wine!

As part of this remarkable achievement, Bianca received an incredible one-month internship at the Michelin-starred Fallow Restaurant in London, including return airfare, accommodation, and a living stipend.

What an outstanding accomplishment and an extraordinary opportunity!

We are delighted that the Aladdin Jr. production, a collaboration between Epworth and Hilton College, has been invited to perform at this year's Innibos National Arts Festival, held in Mbombela from 2-5 July.

We are honoured to be invited to this event and can't wait to be part of this amazing experience.
