“As a restaurant worker and entrepreneur, I know that the CROWN Act (Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair Act) is not only crucial to the men and women experiencing prejudice because of their hair, but it also aligns with one of the tenets of the Restaurant Workers Bill of Rights: that every person has the right to bodily integrity and autonomy…To be Black in America is to be told in words and images how our hair must meet a White standard to be considered professional and acceptable. The CROWN Act will, hopefully, end the historical polarization of hair - and it would sufficiently address this discrimination.” - Renee McCauley, in the Detroit News
