Susan Seibert's Piano and Voice Studio

It’s fun to celebrate the little milestones along the journey. Learning to play an instrument over a lifetime consists of millions of little “wins” along the way. Jacqueline and I have so much fun in our lessons. There are lots of games, stuffed animals (like Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear), songs with butterflies going up and down, characters for each finger (like Thumbelina and Pointer Panda), Piano Parades, and lots of whimsy. I love our music play together! She always has a smile, a joyful spirit, and she comes to lessons eager to learn and to play. She’s bright, too. She wins more games than I do! Congratulations to Jacqueline for finishing her book this week! You are so much fun to teach! 🥰

We had three smaller recitals at my home studio on February 8, and I couldn’t be more proud of everyone who performed! Every one of them overcame their fears, memorized their solos, and played or sang beautifully!! I gave out extra challenging solos to 9 different musicians, and they ALL rose the the extra challenge!! Now it’s time to get to work for our larger May recital! 💕🥳

After earning her Master’s degree in engineering, Adrienne decided to try learning something completely new. She had never had any experience in music and wondered if learning to play the piano would even be something she could do.  After only 15 months of lessons, she is blowing me away! Adrienne is kind, joyful, intelligent, hardworking, and she asks amazing questions. She has an extraordinary mind for detail and for identifying patterns, so piano lessons are going really well for her. She even got engaged and married since we met! She passed her 1-octave Major scales test (w/ ) today, and she’s about to start learning a more difficult piece for the upcoming recital. I love working with students of all ages, and I’ve had so much fun working with adults like her. Congratulations, Adrienne! 💕🥳

It’s always a good idea to learn something new!

Frankie passed his one-octave scales test, playing hands together! Frankie is in his 3rd year of lessons. I’m so proud of Frankie for his hard work, and he’s experienced AMAZING growth in the last 6 months! I’ll add a little teaser video for tomorrow’s recital, too! (see comments)

Dan passed his 2-octave minor scales test last Monday, and he received his certificate today! He’s always been an extremely talented pianist, and he’s improving dramatically this semester as we’re working on more effective practice techniques. These new techniques are taking his playing to the next level just in time for our upcoming studio recitals! (See a short video of a portion of his recital solo in the comments)

Julia passed her 1 octave # scales test on her first lesson after winter break! She also completed the practice challenge! Julia is blowing me away every week because she is thinking critically, practicing efficiently, and improving regularly. She’s talented, and she’s developing a very strong work ethic in piano practice! Wow! I love getting to teach kids like this!

Waelynn was busy practicing during the long winter break and then 2 snow days. I’m SO proud of this kid! He passed his test over the 1-octave Major scales with flats today. What a joy he is to teach!! Also, he informed me today that Beethoven was his #5 artist on his 2024 Spotify playlist. This is a kid after my own heart! ❤️ 🎶

Look who practiced every day this week! Anna is in her second year of piano. She is always a joy to teach because she enters the studio with a huge smile and is always ready to learn! Music games are her favorite part of lessons. (She’s also Maple’s favorite human!)

I had a great time watching two of my voice students in their school play “Twice Upon a Time” this weekend! Naomi was a terrific “Little Red Riding Pants,” and Eden had me laughing as “Cindy-Rella” and “Blink Wonderwoman.” These are two very talented young ladies!
