Legacy in Action: The Dr. Renée Truncale Memorial Scholarship
For 34 years, Dr. Renée Truncale devoted her life to education, leaving a lasting impact on thousands of students, teachers, and families.
As Principal of Akin Elementary, Cox Elementary, and later Director of Special Services for Wylie ISD, Dr. Truncale was known for her unwavering commitment to helping others reach their full potential. Her leadership, compassion, and dedication shaped countless lives throughout her career.
What made her impact even more remarkable was her perseverance. During her 22 years with Wylie ISD, Dr. Truncale battled cancer on and off for 18 years. Yet she never allowed her challenges to define her. She continued to show up each day with a positive attitude, a servant’s heart, and a steadfast determination to help students and educators succeed.
Her passion for children never wavered. In fact, the day before she passed away, her thoughts remained focused on her students, saying, “I wish I had more time to work with my kids.”
Through the Wylie ISD Education Foundation, the Dr. Renée Truncale Memorial Scholarship honors her legacy by encouraging students to persevere through challenges, pursue excellence, and never give up on their goals.

Legacy in Action: The Beyond the Bell/Go Green Enrichment Scholarship and Grant
Learning doesn’t stop when the school day ends.
The Beyond the Bell/Go Green Enrichment Scholarship and Grant was created to extend educational opportunities beyond the traditional classroom while encouraging students to pursue their passions, interests, and future goals.
Wylie ISD’s Beyond the Bell programs provide students with a safe, engaging environment where they can explore new skills, discover new interests, and continue learning after school. Through participation in these enrichment programs, scholarship funding is generated to help Wylie ISD graduates continue their educational journeys at the college level.
But the impact doesn’t stop there.
This endowment also supports grants for Wylie ISD Green Team Committees, helping fund energy conservation and recycling initiatives across campuses. These projects encourage environmental stewardship while empowering students and staff to make a positive impact on their schools and community.
Through the Wylie ISD Education Foundation, this endowment creates opportunities for students both today and in the future—supporting higher education, sustainability, and lifelong learning.

The Master Sgt. Fred & Linda McClure Memorial Scholarship was established to honor a life of service, dedication, and commitment to others.
MSgt. Fred McClure proudly served more than 20 years in the United States Air Force, including service during the Vietnam War. As a Boom Operator aboard a KC-135 flight crew, much of his career was spent refueling aircraft in flight—an essential role carried out with skill, discipline, and pride. Fred never viewed military service as simply a job; he considered it an honor and privilege to serve his country.
Alongside him every step of the way was his wife, Linda, who proudly supported Fred’s military career and shared his heart for service and community.
After retirement, Fred and Linda returned to their hometown of Kennett, Missouri, where they continued giving back by volunteering in their local school district—encouraging students to work hard, pursue excellence, and believe in their futures.
Through the Wylie ISD Education Foundation, this scholarship honors their legacy by helping students continue their education and pursue their personal goals.

Learning comes to life when students can experience it firsthand.
Thanks to a grant funded by the Wylie ISD Education Foundation and written by District Learning Specialist Lindsey Garner, every Wylie ISD elementary campus was equipped with incubators, heat lamps, and feeding stations for the district's annual egg-hatching project.
As part of their life cycle unit, first-grade students observed eggs from incubation to hatching, recorded their observations in science journals, and learned how animals grow and develop. More than 250 chicks hatched across the district, creating an unforgettable hands-on learning experience for students.
The results were remarkable! Student mastery of life cycle concepts increased from 60% on a pre-assessment to 97% by the end of the unit, proving the power of engaging, real-world learning opportunities.
This is the impact of your support. Thank you to our donors for helping bring innovative educational experiences to Wylie ISD classrooms and inspiring the next generation of learners.
