🚨 Important Student Loan Changes Are Coming July 1, 2026 🚨

I wanted to share this information again because it could have a significant impact on how your family plans and pays for college.

Beginning July 1, 2026, Parent PLUS Loans will be capped for the first time.

✅ Maximum of $20,000 per year per student
✅ Maximum of $65,000 total per student

Previously, parents could borrow up to the full cost of attendance, making Parent PLUS loans a common way to cover the gap between financial aid and college costs.

Who is affected?
🎓 Incoming Freshmen (Class of 2030) The new limits apply to you immediately. Families who were planning to use Parent PLUS loans to cover a large funding gap may need to identify additional funding sources.

🎓 Current College Students With Existing Parent PLUS Loans Many families may qualify for legacy protections. If a Parent PLUS loan was already disbursed before July 1, 2026, you may be able to continue borrowing under the previous rules for a limited period while your student completes their degree.

🎓 Current College Students Who Have Never Used Parent PLUS Loans The new borrowing limits will apply starting this fall.

If the new cap creates a funding gap, private student loans may become part of your financing strategy. If you pursue private loans, compare multiple lenders carefully. Interest rates, repayment terms, and borrower benefits can vary significantly, potentially costing or saving thousands of dollars over the life of the loan.

This is a great time to review your college financing plan, understand your options, and avoid surprises before the fall semester begins.

If you’re not happy with your current SAT score, don’t panic. You still have multiple opportunities to test and improve your score before many college application deadlines arrive.

💡 Why this matters:

✔ Improve your score through targeted preparation
✔ Test after completing additional coursework
✔ Take advantage of superscoring policies at many colleges
✔ Strengthen your college admissions profile before applying

Many students assume their spring SAT score is their final score. The reality is that you still have time to improve your score, increase scholarship opportunities, and strengthen your college application before many deadlines.
