From the Missouri River floodplain 🌿

Aaliyah ’27, an Environmental Studies major and Biology minor, spent the summer in the field as a research assistant with the University of Georgia Odum School of Ecology. The work focused on wetland health and amphibian biodiversity, collecting water quality data, sampling for species diversity, and mapping sites using GIS.

One highlight: discovering a small pool of longtail tadpole shrimp, a prehistoric species that has remained unchanged for hundreds of millions of years.

Looking ahead, Aaliyah hopes to continue working outdoors in conservation research.
