After many months of working collaboratively with PS 62 the students in NYCID Aftercare helped to create the Cave of Wonders for the first ever theater production of “Aladdin Jr”. It was a wonderful way to showcase the spirit of community between NYCID and other school clubs. All the students not only had fun, but also took pride in their work.

Big cheers for Desiah! 🛴✨

Desiah, who is part of the NYCID Community Schools program at P.S. 78, is scooting away in style with her new scooter and personalized bag filled with all her goodies! 🎒💖

And Mom — dinner’s on us! 🍕
A well-deserved break with Domino’s because teamwork at home and school makes all the difference.

This celebration is for Desiah’s amazing attendance, which keeps getting better and better !🌟 She’s now riding proudly to school on her scooter and showing up ready to learn.

We are so proud — keep rolling toward success! 🛴💫

Tell State Leaders: Fully Fund and Update the NYS Education Funding Formula in this Year’s Budget 05/07/2026

Community!

Governor Hochul and State legislators are still negotiating the FY 2027 budget, and they need to hear from parents, students, and educators about the importance of funding our public schools!

The Foundation Aid formula, which determines how much funding school districts get from Albany, has changed little since it was created in 2007 — which means it doesn’t accurately reflect student needs in 2026. The State Senate and Assembly have proposed two updates that would help improve the formula: (1) adding a weight to provide additional funding for each student who is homeless or in foster care, and (2) increasing the weight for English Language Learners (ELLs). These changes would drive additional resources to districts to help them meet the unique educational needs of these students. Now, we need to make sure these proposals make it into the final budget!

Tell State Leaders: Fully Fund and Update the NYS Education Funding Formula in this Year’s Budget Email Governor Hochul and state legislators and tell them the final FY 2027 budget should fully fund the Foundation Aid formula and make important updates to improve the formula itself, including adding a weight for students in temporary housing or foster care and increasing the weight for ELLs.

We’re proud to recognize Anderson Rosario Beltre, a senior at Lehman High School, for an exceptional month of April.

Anderson achieved perfect attendance while also making the most academic improvement—a powerful reflection of his hard work, focus, and determination to succeed. Showing up every day and staying committed truly makes a difference, and Anderson is proof of that.

We would also like to give a special thank you to his mentor, Ms. Amanda, whose guidance and support have helped encourage this incredible progress. Strong mentorship makes a lasting impact, and this achievement is a wonderful example of that partnership in action.
