Alumnae Spotlight: From Grymes Hill to serving our nation!

Congratulations to Siobhan McCafferty ‘21 who recently graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA)! Siobhan earned a bachelor of science degree and a commission in the U.S. Armed Forces. She also holds a Merchant Marine officer license, allowing her to serve as an officer on any ship in the U.S. flag merchant marine.

Siobhan, her triplet sisters Kathleen ‘21 (USMMA/U.S. Naval Reserve) and Mary ‘21 (U.S. Air Force Academy/U.S. Space Force), along with their siblings Deidre ‘19 (USMMA/U.S. Navy), John (SUNY Maritime/U.S. Coast Guard), and Ann ‘23 (U.S. Naval Academy) are all proudly serving in the armed forces.

We are deeply grateful to the McCafferty family, and to all members of the Armed Forces for their unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and service to our nation.

Congratulations to Ava Gallo ‘25 on her incredible performance at Ellens Stardust Diner singing contest! Her powerful rendition of “The Winner Takes It All” from Mamma Mia! earned her first place in the 16–18 age category.

Ava previously wowed audiences with the same number playing the role of Donna Sheridan in NDA’s spring production of Mamma Mia!, which took home the St. Genesius Award for Outstanding Musical at the 2025 Minty Awards.
