A big thank you to Portland Pickles Baseball 🥒⚾ for inviting us to participate at Science Night! A button maker is a fantastic tool to spark curiosity in design and engineering fundimentals, and we made so many fun science themed buttons! 🔘 Kids had a great time designing their own and watching their wearable creations come to life! We also handed out some fun stickers, temporaty tattoos, and lots of lollipops for adults and kids alike. 🍭

We had a wonderful time at the Beaverton City Library Science Geek Out Festival back on July 19th. 🔬

Our Community STEAM Navigator, Lena Fox, brought Make-a-Forts where guests could make a fort out of cardboard while learning about engineering fundimentals, and a button-making machine so participants could create their own STEM-themed buttons. Buttons are a joyful way to combine art and science, communication, and self-expression!✨ Thank you to Beaverton City Library for inviting us; we enjoyed every minute!

Our Tri-hub Collaboratory for OST and non-traditional educators creates space for youth-serving organizations to build community and systems of support. One member shared: "There are so many organizations I had never heard of, and it was really lovely to actually meet folks with shared experience and goals !" 🤩

Collab member Antonio Jackson, Executive Director at Building Blocks 2 Success Corporation, shared this amazing space in their new building: words of affirmation surrounding a mirror. So when students and staff alike look into the mirror, they are surrounded by encouragement. He encourages lookers to find words that inspire them and say them aloud to their reflection, thus speaking them into existence! 🎉

That's a wrap on 2026 Oregon STEM Week! 💫Thank you to our participating schools and organizations; your collaboration impacted an estimated 5,590 youths! 😲

Students engaged in many fascinating STEM activities, such as designing a solar-powered water pump for a native habitat garden, bioengineering a fruit, constructing Morse code beaded bracelets, and directing stop-motion films with paper cutouts!🙌

We spent a day with and high school students from Beaverton School District, Mountainside HS, Aloha HS, Beaverton Academy for Science and Engineering (BASE), International School of Beaverton (ISB), and Southridge HS.

This Career Day explored vital roles in the Life Flight Network, such as pilot and EMT. Students flew planes and helicopters in flight simulators, learned about CPR, basic first aid, and how to load a patient into an aircraft safely. ✈️🏥
