We kicked off Pride Month in style with story time and performances from local drag queen legends Poison Waters & Friends and BinKyee Bellflower! Students and families also enjoyed rainbow-themed crafts and snacks as part of the festivities. Thank you to the Parent Network, ISP library, and our delightful guests of honor for an afternoon in celebration of pride, community, and authenticity 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️💖

In garden class, first graders conducted an experiment to learn about environmental factors that help plants grow and thrive. They collected soil samples from different areas of the ISP garden and campus, comparing them through water flow tests. They gained perspective about different types of soil, as well as an appreciation for the healthy growing environment in the school garden beds—a result of long-term diligent nurturing from our wonderful garden volunteers, teachers, and students!

We were honored to welcome the talented dance team from the National Taiwan University of Sport to ISP as part of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!
Our students were amazed and inspired by the performers’ energy and athleticism. A huge thank you to our guests and the 大波特蘭台灣同鄉會 Taiwanese Association of Greater Portland for bringing such joy, pride, and artistry to our campus! It was an amazing opportunity to celebrate one of the many cultures that enriches our school community every day.

Japanese Track third graders initiated a class project of assembling care kits for Blanchet House and Farm, a nonprofit social services organization in Portland. Taking action to benefit the community is an integral part of International Baccalaureate programs, and we're thrilled to have such principled, caring ambassadors in our students!

Fifth graders just finished Exhibition, a milestone in International Baccalaureate schools like ISP. Student groups selected a global topic of significance that they could take action on, and designed and executed their own Units of Inquiry about them. They spent many months gathering data and conducting investigations, and last week, they showcased their findings through interactive, engaging multilingual presentations. Amazing work, fifth graders!!
