Thank you for being so kind, hardworking, and inclusive, Korori Kai Shamisen! It was my OMSI debut, and I am glad that our opening performance for Kubo and the Two Strings went well.

Congratulations to Nihon Gensuibaku Higaisha Dantai Kyougikai (日本原水爆被害者団体協議会, Japan Atomic and Hydrogen Bomb Victims Association Council) a.k.a. Hidankyō on being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. This is a powerful reminder of the importance of peace and the voices of hibakusha (the victims of nuclear weapons) and the victims of wars all over the world.

I’ll never forget our visits to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum with Liliana, Sereno, and Leonardo. Liliana and I also had the honor of taking an elderly survivor gentleman's lecture about the Hiroshima atomic bombing and speaking with him about his experience of the bombing in Hiroshima when he was a child. These memories and many other experiences have made me care about spreading peace.

As I continue to teach origami, I carry the message of peace. Through each origami crane we fold, we share a wish for a peaceful future.

The Japanese grassroots group Nihon Hidankyo, an organization of World War II atomic bombing survivors, has won the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts to create a world free of nuclear weapons.
