Mark your calendar for one of the most fun transportation events of the year! On May 14th, our signature Transportation Trivia fundraiser returns to !

This isn’t your typical trivia night. It’s a high-energy evening where bike nerds, policy pros, sustainability champions, and friendly competitors all end up at the same table to rally behind something bigger: supporting a mission that broadens access to bicycling, and working towards a Portland that offers more equitable access to transportation and mobility.

Transportation Trivia is one of our most important annual fundraisers. This year, we’re aiming to raise $20,000 to power programs that connect the people we serve with quality refurbished bikes and bike education that allows them to make it to school on time, clock in at work and enjoy an afternoon ride with friends on a sunny day.

In a partnership with Multnomah County Health Department, Oregon State University (OSU) researchers conducted an innovative study measuring noise levels throughout Portland.

Findings from this study point to high-traffic roadways as the largest contributor to urban noise, and also suggest that the loudest parts of Portland are also the most socially vulnerable, with lower incomes and higher proportions of non-white residents. There are many health impacts from high noise exposure, including cognitive impairment, mental health disorders, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, hearing impairment/loss and adverse pregnancy outcomes.

One of the most common locations for fatal motor vehicle-bicyclist crashes is at intersections, which inherently have a large number of turning conflicts. Reducing these conflicts is a key objective in improving intersection safety across all modes.

Exciting bike infrastructure update in Cincinnati!

Nate Weyand-Geise, who works in Cincinnati, attended our Portland State University Bikeway Design workshop last year. He said, "on the final day I presented a challenge to the class about a local bridge that needed bike lanes. It had been a 4 lane speedway, and tragically took the life of a beloved community member. Today, the bridge has brand new bike lanes with a buffer and bollards. One side also has striping for a future sidewalk to complement the other side. I want to thank you for leading the class because it helped inspire the work done to make room for everyone on this bridge." He is also grateful to the The Devou Good Foundation for their role in helping make this happen.
