There’s something so special about watching a child begin to believe in themselves.

When reading starts to feel a little easier, each small success builds confidence—and those small moments can add up to something beautiful.

Every word. Every step. Every “I can do it!”

Confidence grows one word at a time.

The crepe myrtle is just beginning to bloom here in Portland OR.

The bright colors make their appearance as flowers begin to open, with plenty of buds still waiting to bloom.

It makes me think about children who are learning something new that might not come easily to them.

Sometimes we look for the big breakthrough and miss all the little signs of growth happening along the way.

A new sound recognized.
A word read independently.
A willingness to try again.
A little more confidence than yesterday.

Not everything blooms at once.

And “not yet” is not the same as “never.”

Give children time. Give them encouragement. Give them someone who believes in what is still unfolding and the sky's the limit.

Some things simply need more time to bloom.

When I visit places like Willamette Falls, I'm reminded that strength isn't always quiet.

Sometimes it's powerful.
Sometimes it's steady.
Sometimes it's simply refusing to give up.

The children I work with show that same kind of strength every day.

Learning to read with dyslexia isn't about becoming someone different. It's about discovering the confidence that has been there all along.

That's the journey I love being part of.

Every parent wants to know, "How long until my child becomes a confident reader?" The honest answer isn't measured in weeks, it's measured in steady progress, growing confidence, and skills that last a lifetime. One of the first changes parents often notice isn't reading, it's confidence. When children feel safe to make mistakes, real learning begins.

Every child deserves to be seen for who they are.

There isn't a one-size-fits-all approach to learning, especially for children with dyslexia. That's why I take time to understand each student's unique learning style and build lessons that help them succeed with confidence.

Watching a child begin to enjoy reading instead of fear it is a gift I'll never take for granted.

Thank you for sharing your kind words. They truly mean so much.

A beautiful garden isn't made from one flower.

A garden becomes beautiful because every plant contributes something different.

Some provide brilliant color.
Some create texture.
Some bloom for weeks.
Others have their moment for only a short time.

Children are wonderfully unique in the same way.

When we stop comparing children and start appreciating how each one learns, thinks, and grows, we begin to see their true potential.

I believe every child has gifts worth discovering.

Reading 📚Doesn't Have to Stop in Summer: Just 20 Minutes a Day Makes a Difference! Summer 😎 is a wonderful time to relax—but it's also when many children lose some of the reading skills they worked so hard to build during the school year.

The good news? Just 20 minutes of reading each day can help keep those skills strong 💪.

Your local library offers free reading challenges, fun incentives, and exciting books that make reading feel like an adventure instead of homework. Discover✨more ideas in my latest blog! Link below 👇

The horizon reminds us that there is always more beyond what we can see.

Today your child may be struggling with reading.
Tomorrow they may discover strengths they never knew they had.

Never underestimate how far a dyslexic learner can go.

One of the most important things to understand about dyslexia is that it has nothing to do with intelligence.

Many students with dyslexia are highly creative, strong problem solvers, and excellent verbal thinkers. What they need is instruction that matches how their brain processes language.

When reading instruction is structured, explicit, and multisensory, students with dyslexia can thrive.

The right instruction changes everything.

Every day this spring and summer season, I've watched this clematis slowly make its way over the fence.

First came the leaves. Then a single blossom. Then another. And today...this.

It reminds me so much of the children I work with.

Growth is rarely sudden. It's built one small step, one success, one moment of confidence at a time.

When we stop expecting children to bloom on someone else's timeline and instead give them encouragement, patience, and the right support, beautiful things happen.

Children are not behind. They're growing.

Sometimes they just need someone who believes in what they cannot yet see for themselves. 💜
