Kansas Votes To Protect Abortion Rights!!
08/02/2022
August 2nd is a very important day in the state of Kansas. Today, voters will decide to either amend or preserve their state’s constitutional right to abortion. The current “Value Them Both” amendment would allow the state legislature to challenge the right of access to reproductive healthcare for millions of people throughout the state.
Our peer educator, Avneet, shares why she is voting “NO” on this ballot measure that would amend her home state’s constitution to allow for abortion restrictions and bans.
“Denying anyone of their human right to bodily autonomy is reprehensible. The “Value Them Both” amendment on our ballots this midterm season is a violent attempt at undermining all of the incredible hard work abortion rights activists have done in our state for decades. I’m incredibly fortunate for my ability to access adequate reproductive healthcare in my new home in Oregon, but my obligation to fight for safe and comprehensive reproductive justice across the country is unwavering. I’m one of many voters who will vote “NO” on this amendment today, and also just one of many who are committed to fighting for reproductive justice even outside of the polls.
I’m voting “NO” because I unwaveringly support an individual’s right to choose what is best for their own health and well-being.
Your body. Your choice.”

Abortion is a human right. Bodily autonomy is a human right. The right to decide what happens to your body is your right and your right only.
We want to start a conversation with our community about what the denial of access has looked like for you.
What does abortion mean to you?
What does the right to choose mean to you?

We cannot express our gratitude enough for Brad and Amy, the loving parents of Amara Marluke, for coming out today to support our event and creating this beautiful tribute piece for Amara.
This denim will continue to hang on our clothesline for years to come, and Amara’s story will forever be honored alongside the stories of all the survivors brave enough to share their testimonies on our clothesline.
Come view our display of denim today in Park Blocks before 3 pm.
