Huntington University's chapter of Alpha Chi is Indiana Beta. Alpha Chi is a national college honor

Our chapter was founded in 1967, the second Alpha Chi chapter in Indiana and the sixty-sixth nationally. In 2001, we were recognized as the outstanding Alpha Chi chapter nationally with the President's Cup. In 2012, we were recognized for the 17th consecutive year as a Star Chapter of Alpha Chi, one of only four chapters (out of some 300+) nationally to receive this award every year since its ince

This weekend was a good one; full of presentations, fellowship, and exploring some of Cleveland.

We had six student delegates, five of which presented work in four different categories.

Trent Yentes won an award for his presentation in American History. Juliet Wilson won one of the two Edwin W. Gaston, Jr. National Scholarships for her paper in Political Science.

All students did a fantastic job presenting at a national level.

Alpha Chi’s Graduate School Forum will take place today at 8 PM to 9 PM in Longaker Recital Hall. It will be a panel discussion on graduate school preparation and experiences. We hope to see you there!

Induction of New Members - October 26

The following students have achieved the highest academic honor on campus of having been elected to the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, and will each be introduced in an Induction Ceremony at 11:00 am on Friday, October 26, in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The ceremony will end by 11:50, and chapel credit will be given for attending.

The students who will be honored are Alana Bates, Alaina Bayles, Mary Devore, Nicole Flickinger, Elizabeth Grogg, Matea Knispel, Ellie Lawson, Michael Lehman, Giovanni Martinez, Abigail Matovich, Derek Nichols, Bailey O’Dell, Daniel Perry, Danielle Reust, Sommer Rose Vadeboncoeur, SangJin Woo, Brody Worl, and Trent Yentes.

The ceremony will end by 11:50, and elective chapel credit will be given for attending. Huntington University’s Alpha Chi Garners Academic Awards

Six student members of the Huntington University Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi attended the National Convention held in Louisville, Kentucky April 6-8, and each presented their work:
• Lea Buckenmyer, a senior biology pre-med major from Liberty Township, Ohio; “Finding Identity in Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome”
• Isaiah Ge**er, a senior psychology and sociology major from Ossian, Indiana; “God and Personality: Effects of Religious Commitment, Personality and Attachment Upon Trait Forgiveness”
• Sarah Gruenewald, a senior English writing and public relations major from Millstadt, Illinois; “Women in Charge: Power Dynamics of a Small Midwestern Affiliate of an International Nonprofit with Women in Superior Positions and Men in Subordinate Positions”
• Nicole Manges, a senior English literature and writing major from Greenville, Ohio; “Persistent Slavery: Power Plays in Their Eyes Were Watching God”
• Jeniece Regan, a junior biology pre-med major from New Haven, Indiana; “Common Ground: The Influence of Jewish Heritage on the Effectiveness of the Apostle Paul's and Justin Martyr's Circumcision Arguments”
• Haley Wyatt, a senior digital media animation major from Woodland, California; “’Blue Ivory’: A Young Adult Graphic Novel”

Jeniece Regan's paper won a regional scholarship, and Isaiah Ge**er's paper was selected as an alternate recipient for a regional fellowship. The chapter received recognition at the convention as a Star Chapter of Alpha Chi for 2015-2016. Well done, students!

Graduate School Forum, Elective Chapel Credit, 8 pm Weds

Alpha Chi will be hosting a Graduate School Forum on Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 8 to 9 pm in the Longaker Recital Hall. Panelists will speak of their experiences in graduate school as well as preparation for graduate and professional school. Elective chapel credit will be given to students for attending.
