THE JOURNEY CONTINUES - In Part 1 of our series on the Esoteric Principles Interpretations of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, we explored the wisdom behind the teachings of Henry Okazaki. Part 2 - Living the Teachings, will look at how these principles come alive on the mat – through training, perseverance, and the spirit of Kokua that binds the dojo together. Because the true meaning of these teachings is not just studied, it’s practiced. 🥋

Huge congratulations to Drew for winning the brown belt freestyle competition at this year‘s 78th annual AJJF convention in San Francisco! Moments like this may happen in spotlight, but they are built on countless hours of training with partners, mentors, and teammates, who help shape the journey. Growth in this art is never a solo path, it is forged through the challenge, skill, and dedication of everyone who steps onto the mat. A special respect to the talented competitors Drew faced. Their skill and spirit are what makes events like this meaningful and push all of us to keep improving. Proud of Drew and grateful for the community that continues to grow together.

One of the best parts of the AJJF annual convention is spending time with people who make this community so special. Training together, laughing together, and strengthening the bond that makes to art more than just technique.

Professor Jeremy Jones and Sensei Sasan Jahan-Parwar guided a powerful session on Shime at last weekends 78th annual AJJF convention in San Francisco, exploring the precision, control, and responsibility shins the deeper arts of Danzan Ryu Jujistu. Seeing Professor Jones alongside his own teacher, Professor Robert Hodgkins, was a powerful reminder that this art lives through lineage - passed from teacher to student, generation after generation. Grateful to train, learn, and help carry the legacy forward.

Honored to attend the 78th annual national convention of the American Judo and Jujutsu Federation in San Francisco last weekend. This year‘s theme, Kuleana, reminds us that our training carries both privilege and responsibility. We inherit the knowledge, history, and legacy of the art – and it becomes our duty to preserve it, practice it with integrity, and pass it onto the next generation. Grateful to be part of a community committed to lifelong learning and honoring the path laid before us.
