Grow Portland supports schools and communities by facilitating hands-on garden experiences that foster connections to food, nature and each other.

We lead school-day programming and help steward food producing gardens and outdoor learning spaces.

Now’s a great time to support our work- your donation can go twice as far! As part of our partnership with Jack Johnson’s All At Once community, donations made to Grow Portland during the month of September will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Johnson Ohana Foundation, up to $500.

We had a really sweet learning field trip to the NAYA garden for our team. We learned about the extensive programming and offerings for the Native community in Portland, learned about medicine plants such as Hopi to***co and sweetgrass, pulled bindweed and made fireweed seed balls. Really excited for this connection. Thank you, Jenny Piatti!

Our 5,000 students will soon be back learning in their school gardens- but our team of awesome educators are busy at work refining equitable teaching practices, brainstorming new activities, and preparing the gardens for another spectacular year!

We are missing our students! Luckily, the countdown to back to school is ON! We begin Garden Educator orientation and training next Monday and will be setting our sights on that first day of school. See you soon, students!
