Each year, Centennial presents the Triple C Awards to honor employees who demonstrate the values of caring, commitment, and/or creativity through their work in our District. Nominated by their colleagues, the winners of the Triple C Award have been recognized for ways in which their efforts have benefited the students, staff, and community of the Centennial School District.

At our May 13, 2026 Board of Directors meeting, this year's winners were announced and recognized for their contributions to our District. This year, we have three winners who exemplify the Triple C values:

-Justin Dowell, Lead Secretary at Powell Butte Elementary
-Adriann Hardin, Teacher at Centennial Virtual Academy
-Pia Watzig, Nutrition & Wellness Coordinator at Dining Services

May is National Nurses Month, and this year's National School Nurse Day is May 6. This is a time to recognize the essential role school nurses play in keeping our students healthy, safe, and ready to learn.

We are grateful for the care, expertise, and compassion our school nurses bring to Centennial every day. Thank you for the critical support you provide to our students and school community.

It's National Physical Education and Sports Week! Engaging in physical education and sports helps students to develop essential motor skills, personal and social skills, and core character values such as resilience, fairness, and respect. Thank you to all of our PE teachers, coaches, and other staff that support physical activities and athletics for students of all ages in our District.

May 4-8, 2026 is Teacher and Licensed Appreciation Week, an opportunity to recognize the important work of our licensed educators across the District. This includes teachers and the many other licensed professionals who support students each day. Together, they play a central role in student learning, growth, and well-being.

We encourage you to take a moment through this week to thank the educators who have supported your school or your child's experience.

Centennial School District celebrates May as Jewish American Heritage Month. Established in 2006, this month celebrates the contributions and experiences of Jewish Americans and highlights how America's Jewish communities have shaped our country's history, culture, and society.

This May, Centennial celebrates Asian American and Pacific Island (AAPI) Heritage Month. This month serves as an opportunity to celebrate the rich culture, history, and global achievements of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in our Centennial community and throughout the United States.

Today is School Lunch Hero Day! This day celebrates the important role of our Dining Services staff members. These everyday heroes provide healthy meals for all Centennial students, supporting learning and making a difference for our schools. Thank you to all of our Centennial School Lunch Heroes!
