8TH GRADE WASHINGTON DC TRIP 🇺🇸
Last week, our 8th grade students visited colonial Williamsburg, the Jamestown settlement, several of the Smithsonian museums, 9/11 Memorial, World War II Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans and Korean Memorials, the National Archives to see the Declaration of Independence (among other historical documents), the Holocaust Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, the United States Capitol, Mount Vernon and caught a baseball game!
By all accounts, the trip was a blast, albeit a whirlwind. What a fantastic field trip to cap off 8th grade!

Last week our 2nd and 3rd graders teamed up for a marble run engineering challenge. Our students had a blast watching their ideas come to life as they worked in teams.

Last week our 5th graders departed for an outdoor education program through to Fossil, Oregon. This 3 day, 2 night adventure is part of our expanding experiential learning program.
While in Fossil, the students explored many concepts and topics relating to their Science standards. They participated in field studies around weather and climate, animal adaptations in desert or arid climates, the rock cycle and sediments, and even some fossil hunting. They also took a course on orienteering, where they learned to follow waypoints using a compass and “old school” survival skills. In addition to the academic studies, there was plenty of time for recreation, good food, and evening campfires.

Behind every good team is a really great coach ❤️Congrats to Steven Lodzinski and Melissa McFeron for their well deserved recognition for outstanding coaching at last night’s celebration dinner.
Steven has coached our 8th grade boys in basketball for the last eight years! Over the years, his team has been very successful and even won the city championship in 5th grade!
Melissa coaches multiple volleyball and basketball teams. She helps with track and field too. If you’ve ever enjoyed a concession during a game in the St. Clare Gym, you can thank Melissa for it. She sets up and cleans up our concession stand every Saturday during basketball and volleyball season.
Thanks, Steven and Melissa, for your dedication to the St. Clare CYO athletic program. Go Dragons!
