No experience needed - just a boat and someone who believes in you...

There is a moment in every class when the sails fill with the wind and the boat powers up: it stops being just something you are riding on and becomes something you are apart of, something you are controlling, something you are feeling.

That's one of the many moments that can lead to a lifetime of sailing - one of the many moments that brings us all back time and time again.

August beginning sailing spots are filling fast... and for a limited time you can get $100 in savings off of the few remaining ones still available.

No experience necessary, no need to go out and buy a boat or commit to anything other than four days that may change your life for ever...

The Pacific NW Offshore Race is underway!

This annual race kicked off this morning just off the Columbia Bar up north, rounding Neah Bay into the Straight of Juan de Fuca, and finishing at Victoria BC. The north coast is often regarded as one of the most challenging stretches of water, which makes for some exciting racing!

You can follow along with the race on the tracker at the link in our bio! Keep an eye out for some local Columbia boats such as Free Bowl of Soup, Vela Volta, Tenacious, Kaiju, Jugo, and Rage.

Pretty exciting stuff, and next week is the Swiftsure Race, and later in June is Race to Alaska. The season is here!

Happy (belated) Earth Day from everyone here at Island Sailing! We feel lucky that our backyard is the mighty and beautiful Columbia.

This Earth Day, consider giving back to help preserve the river for future generations. Columbia Riverkeepers is an amazing non-profit aimed to help restore and preserve the quality of the ecosystem and all that are connected to it. Their work with local communities have helped shape salmon restoration efforts across the basin. Find out more at the link in our bio.

We hope everyone had an exceptional Earth Day and look forward to seeing folks enjoying the special place we call home!

You may have seen a new face walking up D row recently!

Island Sailing recently added a meticulously maintained 1993 Catalina 28 to the fleet, named Leucothea. She has new running rigging, new main and head sails, a propane heater, a Garmen Chart plotter and a great autohelm, she's got it all!

We knew after seeing she's called Leucothea that we had to add her to the fleet! Leucothea is the Greek Goddess of the sea and protector of sailors. She's referenced as a deity who aids mariners in distress, famously saving Odysseus with her veil in The Odyssey, and is often linked to sea spray.

We feel excited and lucky that Island Sailing is growing both in our fleet and community. This space wouldn't be possible without all of our members for whom we are so grateful. Thank you all so much.

She's now available for reservations on Boat Club!
