🌲 Register Today: Learning in the Woods, Tree Planting 🌲

Join us for a hands-on tree planting and reforestation educational experience designed for homeschool students and other non-traditional classroom learners.

Students and families will engage in outdoor science activities with our Forest Educator, learn about reforestation in partnership with OSU Extension, and plant a tree while exploring the winter woods at Hopkins Demonstration Forest.

Our first session takes place on February 14, and at Hopkins, “We ❤️ Forests", so what better day to kick off our tree planting events than Valentine’s Day. Additional sessions will be held on February 23 and March 9, 2026.

This program is open to K–8 students and their families.

Registration is required — space is limited.

Happy New Year's Eve! 🐰🐰🐰
And the people stayed home.
And read books and listened, and rested and exercised,
and made art and played games,
and learned new ways of being and were still.
And listened more deeply.
Some meditated, some prayed, some danced.
Some met their shadows.
And the people began to think differently.
And the people healed.
And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless and heartless ways the earth began to heal.
And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again,
they grieved their losses, and made new choices,
and dreamed new images,
and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully,
as they had been healed.
Poem: 'And the People Stayed Home' by Kitty O’Meara
Artist: Wendy Andrews (Rabbit over moon)
💚 (Have fun tonight! ...and remember to say 'rabbit, rabbit, rabbit' when first you wake, to usher in a joyful new year).
🐇🐇🐇Lets you and me, plant the seeds of a better year to come!

Our annual Fairy Godmother Plant Walk approaches! Wear your costume (or don't, as you like) and lets look for the Fairy Godmother and discuss foraging as it relates to the plants we find. There are two walks on October 19th, one earlier at Mt Tabor (10:30), and one in the afternoon at Tryon Creek (1:30)

This walk is pay what you can.

There won't be tricky surprises that I know of, but Fairies being who they are, there might be. Its near Samhain, after all. There will be treats! I will also have some warm wildharvested tea to share, bring your own cup if you can remember.

Also please bring shoes with good tread, water, and weather appropriate clothing. And make sure you RSVP on the events and share with your friends. Check here for updates in case of weather or sickness cancelation (in which case we will reschedule).

see you there! 🌿
