Yesterday was such an amazing day with our families, teachers, and supporters at our Summer Family Fun Day at Alderbrook Park. We raised $16,500 to benefit the early learning program at St James! We’re so grateful for everyone’s support, and we can’t wait to do it again next year. 🩷

The Preschool for All application is now open until April 30th! We’re thrilled to offer Preschool for All spots at our location. PFA connects kids in our community to free preschool and we are proud to partner with them. Children who will be 3 or 4 on or before September 1, 2025 and have at least one parent or legal guardian living in Multnomah County are eligible this year.
Placements are not first-come, first-served. All applications received during the application period are processed at the same time. Families don’t need to rush to get their applications in! Reach out to us to schedule a tour and meet our team today!

We were honored to welcome Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson, and Multnomah County Preschool and Early Learning Division Director Leslee Barnes to share the incredible work taking place at St. James Child Development Center. Following the tour, we hosted an impactful roundtable discussion with community stakeholders about the importance of investments in early childhood education. St. James is a pilot site for Multnomah County Preschool for All, and we welcomed the opportunity to share more about how participation in this program benefits children, families, and early childhood educators.

We're excited to be hosting another fabulous Scholastic Book Fair here at St. James from February 26 - March 1. Be sure and stop by the Pioneer Chapel to shop the fair to help us earn funds to build up classroom libraries. Can't make it to the fair in person? Online sales count toward our goal, and every purchase helps. Head over to our fair site to learn more about online purchases (great for out of town family and friends that want to support your child's early literacy education).
It's Book Fair Time!
Visit our school's homepage to get the latest Book Fair news, shop our Online Fair, and more!

The Child Development Center will be closed January 16th due to anticipated inclement weather. We hope to see everyone on Wednesday. Stay safe.

In anticipation of the inclement weather tomorrow, the Child Development Center will be closing early at 12:00pm. We will serve lunch per usual before getting children ready to go home. This decision aligns with our inclement weather policy to follow all weather related closures of Portland Public Schools. The district will meet tomorrow morning at 5:00am to revisit the decision in case the forecast indicates that more severe weather will appear in Portland. If the need to cancel the entire school day arises, you will be updated.

The energy and fun today was top notch, and we enjoyed a very spooky but not so scary Halloween in every classroom at St. James Child Development Center. We hope that all families enjoy a fun and safe Halloween. 👻🎃💀
