We're are excited to bring the following workshop to PCC and it features our former colleague and still friend Briana Stansbury.

Beyond the Dream: A critical look at the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr, This workshop takes a deep dive at Dr. King's identities as an organizer, pastor and a man. It gives examples of how we can celebrate Dr. King for his accomplishments and impacts on society, while holding him accountable for his not so favorable behaviors and decisions. Dr King is more than a "I have a dream" speech and we hope to share how and why. This workshop looks tests our knowledge on some of his core principles for organizing & theology; we will also look at his issues with misogyny and toxic behaviors during the civil rights movement This program features Former SE Multicultural Center Coordinator and Oregon Food Bank's Briana Stansbury and SY Multicultural Center Makerusa Porotesano.

The event will stream on all the following sites on March 10th from 3pm-5pm: HERE on FB or on our youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwkg3AJYytmLrZNLsVxXjKg

The PCC Multicultural Centers are partnering up with Portland State University's Multicultural Retention Services (MRS) as they look for incoming students to participate in their mentoring/mentor programs from students of color. On February 16th from 4pm-5pm MRS will be hosting a presentation to give you some basic information on how their programs support students' leadership development, financial needs and community building. Best part is, you don't have to be transferring next year to attend, in fact it will help give you a head start for the next cohort. For eligibility, check out the information below. Contact Mak at [email protected] if you have questions or need the Zoom Link.
