🌋6th Grade Science Eruption! 🌋
Mrs. Shearer’s 6th Grade science class had a blast today! They dove deep into the world of volcanos—learning about eruptions and the impact on the surrounding communities. The hands on activity of creating their own volcano artwork helped bring new science vocabulary to life, making the lesson even more engaging and memorable!
At Cor Deo, we believe in fostering both curiosity and creativity as we grow in knowledge and faith.

📚 Week 1 of the 25/26 School Year: In the Books!

We are so thankful for the many blessings that have already filled our halls at our new location at Bethany Baptist. 🙏🏻
Some of this week’s highlights:
✨Our brand new feather flags are up and adding a splash of school spirit!
✨Our 9th Graders led us in song during Morning Assembly-what an amazing way to kickstart our days! 🎶
✨Our Kinder and First Graders had a blast working on their counting skills!
✨A Third Grader led us in Morning Prayer, reminding us of the important of faith in our daily lives.

As we reflect on this first week of school, we’re inspired by Colossians 3:17:
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

🧱Collaboration Station Fun in the 3rd Grade! 🎉

This afternoon, our third graders put their teamwork to the test during Collaboration Station! Working in pairs or small groups, students were challenged to build the tallest tower using a variety of materials.

It was inspiring to see their creativity, problem-solving, and communication shine as they explored different support strategies and worked together to find new solutions. What a fun way to learn collaboration—and a great reminder that we’re stronger together!

✨What a wonderful first day of school at Cor Deo!✨
Principal Arndt welcomed students and families into our new building, celebrated summer birthdays, and invited a sixth grader to lead us in prayer to start the day.
We are excited for a year of learning, growth, and God’s blessings!

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Today was Orientation at Cor Deo!
Principal Arndt welcomed both students and families by opening with prayer, then reviewed responsibilities for students, parents, and teachers. After a short Q&A session, all students were able to go meet their teachers, see their classrooms, and learn about the upcoming year. It was great fun to see old friends, welcome new families, and explore Cor Deo’s new building! We are all looking forward to a terrific year of growth in 2025-2026!

What a Week!
Last week was full of adventure for our Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade classes with back-to-back field trips! On Wednesday, we visited the Portland Zoo, where students attended a special Zoo Talk on nocturnal animals, and got to see the zoo’s new baby elephant! Then on Friday, we headed to the Hanson Family Farm for a hands-on day of farm chores, outdoor fun, and learning about life on the farm. It was a week packed with discovery, smiles, and God’s beautiful creation—from the jungle to the barnyard!

Today our Kinder/1st Grade class took a special nature walk to release the monarch butterflies they’ve been caring for and studying in class. Watching the butterflies emerge and take flight was a beautiful reminder of God’s creativity and the wonder of his creation. The students have loved observing the entire life cycle—from tiny caterpillar to graceful butterfly—right before their eyes!
