As a Designated Pilot Examiner DPE, I would like to Congratulate David Oliver, out of Hillsboro, OR on completing his Private Pilot Check Ride. In this photo David had to demonstrated basic flight planning techniques as well as filing the flight plan for our flight. In the photos below David demonstrated supurb Private Pilot navigational skills, his charts and aircraft instruments. I had Dave navigate to a specific airport on his chart which was KS44 Spanaway Airport, WA and than with ATC clearance David navigated through McChord's class D airspace on the way back home. Congrats Dave! (-:

In the United States, FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) is a senior pilot, who examines applicants for their pilot certificates on behalf of the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA). The DPE must check applicants qualifications, conduct oral test of their mental skills and judgment as well as an in flight practical test. DPE's sometimes double as FAA Aviation Safety Inspectors.
Since my two-years as a Designated Pilot Examiner DPE, I have issued on count fifty licenses and type ratings to students from student pilot to ATP and really enjoy my work here in the Pacific Northwest.👍
