It's always a blast having students from The Fellowship Initiative (TFI)! โ๏ธ ๐ถ โ๏ธ
Here's what Ada, our Content Creator, shared from their recent adventures: "Throughout their week on the Deschutes River, these students, part of JPMorganChase's The Fellowship Initiative, in partnership with the SJLI - Social Justice Learning Institute, had the opportunity to develop new skills, work together to test their limits and boundaries, and reflect on their goals - past, present, and future. One student told me he's excited to take his family outside once he gets home and was surprised by how nice it was to spend the week away from his phone!"

๐ Celebrating 59 Unforgettable Seasons with NWOBS! ๐
As we shared in our Spring newsletter, the NWOBS Board of Directors made the difficult decision to close the school after 59 years of exceptional programming. Today, as we begin the last month of summer, our belief in the power of Outward Bound remains as strong today as it was in 1965.
We celebrate our alumni and instructors who have paddled these rivers and climbed these mountains over the past six decades. We honor our administrative teams whoโve provided key operational support, and we deeply thank our donors whoโve given time and treasure. Together, we have shared adventures filled with courage, determination, and spirit.
Thank you all for being part of the NWOBS crew and for making these years so special. Hereโs to the countless memories and the incredible community weโve built together! ๐๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ๐ถ We hope you enjoy reviewing some of the photos from our NWOBS vault below.

Rappelling is all about trust. ๐ค Trusting the rope, trusting each other, and trusting yourself. After 15 days living, expeditioning, and working together, this crew, who joined us for our Oregon Rafting & Rock Climbing course, put their trust and skills to the test on rappel day at Smith Rock!

Brigette, one of our 2024 Content Creators, shared, โIt was an honor to document unforgettable moments on Tahoma with an all-BIPOC crew. Mountain objectives come with their own set of challenges, and seeing this crew navigate them through a BIPOC lens was truly inspiring. Huge thanks to NOWBS and Climbers of Color for fostering this environment for growth.โ

๐๐๏ธ This crew of students recently returned home from their Oregon Rafting & Alpine Backpacking course with us!
Ada, our summer 2024 Content Creator who joined this group on course shared, "An impactful moment on this course was during an activity called 'The Rock Swim.' Students are invited to swim through an eddy line and climb onto a rock. It's daunting to voluntarily swim in white water, but every single student jumped in! The crew left the activity with a better understanding of hydrology, a feeling for swimming in whitewater, and a sense of accomplishment!"
๐ธ Thanks for capturing these incredible moments from the Upper Deschutes, Ada!
