Thanks to everyone who has contributed to our teacher back to school breakfast! Our PTA Hospitality Team has collected $690 in donations as of today. We are looking to spend about $12 per teacher for breakfast burritos, coffee and juice for their first day back to work for the 2026/2027 school year. We have 100 teachers and support staff so we are looking to raise $1200. To donate, please venmo -jones-296 Any additional funds over the amount we need for the back to school breakfast we will use for the freshmen jumpstart coffee and muffins for teachers and Back to School Night Teacher Dinner. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!

We are excited to share that on Friday, June 5, Ida B. Wells High School Band Director Mr. Caldwell was knighted by the Queen of Rosaria as an Honorary Knight of Rosaria through the Royal Rosarians.
This special recognition is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to our community. In addition to his work with our students, Mr. Caldwell founded the SW Community Band 10 years ago, creating opportunities for musicians of all ages to perform and connect through music.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, our own Ida B. Wells Princess, Sophie Lafrenz, participated in the ceremony. Sophie has been a dedicated flute and piccolo player in the Ida B. Wells High School Band throughout her four years at Wells, making this recognition especially meaningful for our school community.
Congratulations to Mr. Caldwell on this well-deserved honor, and thank you for your dedication to music education and service to the Southwest Portland community!

The 2026 yearbook will be distributed this Thursday at the end of the day in the cafeteria in conjunction with Ida B. Chella. We still have books available for sale via SchoolPay through this Wednesday night. After that, books can only be purchased directly from Ana Curtis, the bookkeeper, in the main office. She will be available to sell books on Thursday until 4 pm, and then every day after while supplies last before school, during flex, and during lunch. She will not be selling books after school. If you missed last year's book, we still have a few copies available for purchase. If you have any questions, please contact Keith Higbee, the yearbook advisor at [email protected].
