We are currently hiring for a part-time or full-time teacher position.

We are a progressive school offering care to children 6 weeks to 6 years. We have created our own philosophy of working with children which calls from RIE, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, Montessori, Emergent Curriculum, Anti-Bias Curriculum, and our own experiences. We value creative thinking, emergent curriculum, nature based approaches, emotional intelligence, social justice and creating self-advocates beginning in infancy. We play outside every day and value our connection to nature, our community and open-ended play! Every position has opportunities for research, leadership, and open-ended, self-directed professional development.

Qualifications:

2 years in a certified childcare setting - Applications with no experience working in a classroom will not be considered.
Pre-requisites for working with children: RRCAN, INCCHS, CPR/First Aid, Food Handlers, Criminal Registry
Demonstrated excellence in classroom management, parent communication, and documentation as well as three STRONG references from a professional setting.
Punctual and reliable
Strong time management skills
Ability to foster respectful and supportive relationships with families, children and team members
Understanding of play-based, inquiry-based or RIE philosophies
Familiar with Professional Standards and Competencies for Early Childhood Educators
Must be able to meet physical demands: requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and or pulling up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
We offer:

Paid holidays, medical benefits, retirement, as well as sick and vacation time after 90 days for full time employees
Various opportunities for continued education
A relaxed, community-minded, professional environment where we value supporting your own professional goals, as well as relationships with the children in our care, and providing support to parents.
Generous starting wages and progressive advancement system based on ownership of progress, involvement in school life and commitment to goals
COVID-19 Statement:

We want to acknowledge that caring for children in a group setting means we are front line workers, and working in a risk-aware environment. This means we have strict health and safety practices and systems in place to mitigate any risks that are related to working closely with children and their families. These procedures look like:

Health and sanitation - daily health checks, new procedures for entering care daily, supervised, frequent hand washing, enhanced cleaning throughout the day, individual, staggered meal service, adjustment of the environment to allow easy sanitation, and procedures for illness as it occurs.
Personal Protection - Face masks, Face Shields, Gloves and other materials are required for adults and available to all staff.
Social distancing - Including families who social distance at home and limit their social bubble or have created their own ‘pod’
Stable Groups of 16 children on site or less
Consistent and Predictable care during this stressful time.
