A hui hou—until we meet again.
I’ll remember you.
Love, Valerie
This is where you come when you want to discuss a challenge confidentially, informally, and off-the-record. We're not an office of notice.
Valerie White is the ombudsperson, and you can make an appointment to meet with her by calling the office.

Ohhhhhh, Lewis & Clark. You were just showing off today when I ran my campus errand late afternoon. And I did stop to smell the delicately- scented white rose.

This picture of me in the tree is likely around 25 years old when I was the associate dean of the grad school. I’m with dear colleagues who jointly wrote an article and let me tag along as I was too swamped to help much. Peter Mortola, lower far right, found and sent this to me as we both will retire this year. This beautiful apple tree was in the Albany quad and succumbed years ago to old age. Thanks, Peter!

Campus is alive with blooming trees. I couldn’t resist taking this photo as I left a meeting and headed to another today. See the Chapel through the pink? That was my view as I walked back to my office there. So much beauty to see as we barrel towards the end of our terms.
The prospective student and their family got quite the surprise when the randomly walked into the chapel during their campus visit while an accomplished organist was practicing! Actually, maybe it wasn’t random as you could hear the playing from outside.

Oh Spring trillium plant by my office. Every year I look forward to you and all you signal. Thanks for another year.

Happy 16th anniversary to the Ombuds Office—and I guess to me as I started the Office as a pilot the college wanted to try out for three years. Thousands of wonderful folks later March 1 passed, and the Office and I are a week into the 17th year. What a special ride.
Earlier in the last week of the 16th year, a former colleague played a private concert of Brahms, Mozart, and a Bach prelude for me as knows how much I love his beautiful playing. It was a just-because gift. Deepest gratitude for all Lewis & Clark can include.

What a terrific event the Mixed Race Club’s first annual dinner was. Thanks for including me! This was the view in the chapel tonight as I walked back to my office here.

This patch of white flowers is one of my favorite sites on campus as it promises spring in the midst of winter.
