Curious Gardeners is a food-education-focused, play-based preschool serving children ages 2 through 5 in Portland, Oregon. We are located in Southeast Portland, just south of the Woodstock neighborhood and are licensed to care for up to 12 children per day.
At Curious Gardeners, we strongly believe that every child has the right to a rich and joyful childhood. We get our hands dirty in the garden, run, climb, create art, cook, sing, dance, laugh, and engage in pretend play together.
Our growing in-home family child care is looking for a Preschool Teacher/ Early Childhood Educator who can help to create a fun, loving, intentional environment for our children and incorporate developmentally appropriate practices that assist in our children's development. The Preschool Teacher will be responsible for monitoring and co-teaching our mixed age group of 2 to 5-year-olds, as well as helping with the daily tasks involved in keeping the school running smoothly. We are looking for someone who loves spending time outside whatever the weather, is interested in healthy food and cooking, and loves spending time with young children. Our ideal candidate is someone who is open to learning, communication, and feedback, and has a desire to always be working as a team toward being the best teachers and care givers we can be. Previous experience in a family child care or other child care center is a plus.
In addition to our preschool program, in July 2020 we intend to start a small infant care program. We are looking for someone who would be interested in participating in the infant care program occasionally in addition to working with the preschoolers.

Desired Qualifications:
Age Groups: 2-5 year olds; Infant care
High school degree
Current enrollment in Oregon's Central Background Registry a plus! Background Check with Oregon's Central Background Registry required before employment begins.
Required trainings to be completed within 30 days of employment:
- Infant, Child, and Adult CPR and First Aid
- Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety
- Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
- Child Care Food Handlers Training
- Safe Sleep Training
