My Burt’s Bees Story

I always have chapstick, I always use chapstick, it actually has turned into a family joke and I bet it will be part of my eulogy (in 50+ years)

I am a proponent of natural products after researching “How to prevent Cancer” after my mom died of ovarian cancer 20+ years ago.

It is astounding how many chemicals we ingest, absorb through our skin etc before we even leave the house in the morning.

So of course my choice of chapstick was the Natural Choice of Burts Bees. Founded by a beekeeper who used beeswax etc…

A strange thing started happening, it seemed like I had to use it more than normal and I was having weird lip issues, cracking and puffiness. Since I had been using this product for so long without any issues it never occurred to me that anything had changed. I had lived with this issue for a while, still always carrying my Burts Bees chapstick.

Then I saw it, I saw that Burts Bees was acquired by Clorox! WHAT? WHY? It didn’t make sense to me but it sure made sense to me why I was having weird lip issues! I immediately threw out all my Burts Bees Products and no longer have weird lip issues or dry cracking issues.

Then the other day I was at the store looking for good for you toothpaste and I saw a whole section for Burts Bees in the natural food/products area, made me think “how many of these companies that are known for good for you products are owned by huge corporations not known for good for you products?” Welp…….

Priority 1 - Remove chemicals from your food

A great way to do this is to cook/bake.

This way you are in control over what goes in the final product. With quality ingredients baked good are good for you!

Baking has always been a stress reliever for me and the side benefit is the finished product 🧁

Found a gem this morning!

They have a Breakfast Bloody Mary cuz you get enough food in it to not need to order any.

But we did anyway...super yummy.

Tried something new today: Loukaniko Sausage, it is Greek with orange peel and fennel. Pretty tasty

We had to come back for more!

Dustin got “The Princess” spicy chicken on a biscuit, I opted for “The Lindstrom” shaved Brussels sprouts, hazelnuts, Parmesan, lemon vinaigrette with poached eggs and of course we had to have an order of the donuts with lemon mascarpone and blueberry compote!

Super yummy!!!!!!
