School shouldn’t be about the regurgitation of facts. It should be about learning how to process information, make meaningful connections, and communicate ideas with confidence. When scholars understand something deeply enough to teach it to someone else, that’s where lasting learning happens.

As announced earlier this year, Sally is retiring from her role at Ren. While she’ll remain connected as a board member, continue teaching some Exploratory classes, and step in when needed, this week marked the end of an incredible chapter.

She had a graduation of her own this week! While Sally is never one to enjoy being the center of attention, we couldn’t let this milestone pass without thanking her for the magic, wisdom, and passion she has poured into Ren over the years. Her impact on our educators, scholars, and community is immeasurable, and there won’t be a day when her presence isn’t felt in our building.

We know we’ll see her again, and we’re deeply grateful for everything she has done to help set our school up for success. Wishing you a well-deserved deep exhale and every joy in this next chapter.

The final moments of the 2025/26 school year flew by in a blur of shared work and laughter. While our graduates celebrated a beautiful ceremony that morning, the rest of our scholars spent the day putting the finishing touches on projects for their final Learning Celebration. What a wonderful way to close out another incredible year.

Public speaking isn’t easy, yet every scholar rose to the occasion with courage and authenticity. Their reflections on who they are and how far they’ve come were thoughtful, heartfelt, and a beautiful celebration of their journey.
