Applications are now open for the 2024 Pacific Northwest Preservation Field School at Deception Pass State Park. Work will focus on a CCC built log and stone former comfort station (restroom). A preliminary list of projects to be addressed all three weeks includes log repair and replacement and window repair, reglazing and reconstruction. Additional topics may include historic landscape survey and maintenance workshops, stone repointing, and metal preservation. The 2024 Pacific Northwest Preservation Field School will be held at Deception Pass State Park on Whidbey Island. The Field School will include three one-week sessions this August 25th through September 13th. Updates will be posted as details are worked out.

The 2023 Pacific Northwest Preservation Field School will be held at the historic Fort Stevens State Park near Astoria on the Oregon Coast!
The Field School is now accepting applications for three one-week sessions at the Fort Stevens on the Oregon Coast this August 27th through September 15th. A preliminary list of projects includes brick masonry repair and repointing, window assessment, repair, and reglazing, and concrete assessment and conservation. Historic landscape survey and maintenance workshops, interpretation workshops, field trips, and evening presentations. Participants will be lodged in double-occupancy yurts and meals will be provided onsite. No experience is required. Space is limited.

Participants of the Pacific Northwest Preservation Field School joined preservation professionals to get some extraordinary work done this past summer at Harriman State Park in Idaho. With the Grand Teton Range and nearby Yellowstone National Park as backdrops, the crew hewed and mortared logs, cut lites, glazed windows and so much more in preservation of the historic Railroad Ranch.

2022 Field School Applications Now Being Accepted.
Join experts from the National Park Service, University of Oregon, and PNW State Parks this September at the early 20th c. Railroad Ranch in eastern Idaho. In one week, work on historic buildings by day, ride horseback or fly fish by night. Learn architectural preservation first hand by rehabbing log sills, wood windows, and other features.
