Transracial Parenting 08/04/2024

All transracial/interracial adoptees deserve to grow up with parents who deeply understand the integral role of race and racism in their child’s life.

Conscious Adoption: Transracial Parenting 8-week course begins Sept 10, 2024 on Zoom. This course, developed by both adoptees and other adoption constellation members, gives adoptive parents a compassionate space to learn about race and racism.

We will look at the history of race & adoption in the U.S., how to talk age-appropriately about race & racism, the struggle for identity of transracial adoptees, and more.
I am super excited to be training with two amazing transracial adoptee co-facilitators Shelise Gieseke and Jordan Davis for this 8 week Transracial Parenting course. Please share with those who would benefit from learning, growing and building community.

Title: Adoptees in Non-Traditional Relationships

Description:

We the Experts: Adoptees in Non-Traditional Relationships

When: Saturday, February 10th - 10am-12pm PST, (1pm-3pm EST).

Our next We the Experts features Adoptees in non-traditional relationships, this might mean poly, open, consensual non-monogamy, etc. Non-traditional relationships have been stereotyped in various ways that reduce the legitimacy or character of the relationship.
When approached with honesty, respect, and communication, non-traditional relationships can be a place for individuals to find belonging in a world where the traditional narrative doesn’t feel like the right fit. The intersection of being an adoptee in a non-traditional relationship has so many layers of carving your own path, finding community outside of places that didn’t serve you, and redefining what relationships can look like.

~ How did learning about non-traditional relationships affect you?
~ As an adoptee who grew up in a non-traditional family, did that have an impact in your decision to seek out non-traditional relationships?
~ How does being an adoptee play a role in your relationship?
~ What would you like people to know about non-traditional relationships?

The Panelists:
To Be Announced!

Registration link in Bio or https://bit.ly/wte-0224-non-trad-rel-reg
(everyone who pre-registers will receive a link to the recording of the panel)

$10 - adoptee* and $15 - non-adoptee
*No adoptee is turned away due to financial hardship.
Email [email protected] for info. Please note a portion of your fee helps pay our panelists for their time and to our adoptee community fund.
We the Experts is an adoptee-centered space where adoptees are the experts! Each month adoptees and non-adoptees are invited to sit in community to listen to and learn from a myriad of adoptee lived experiences.
Not an Adoptee?
Our non-adoptee support community is welcome. Please note all support people are asked to agree to our Non-Adoptee Waiver (A statement of understanding) - “I understand I am a guest to this adoptee-centered space and my primary intention is to listen and learn. I will not engage in the chat or submit questions.”
