Today, financial documents like retirement statements and investment records arrive by mail unless you choose otherwise. A new SEC proposal would flip that default to email — without requiring your approval first.

Anyone who wants electronic delivery can already choose it. This proposal doesn't add a new option — it shifts the burden onto everyone else to opt back into paper, which is problematic for so many Americans who struggle to navigate online access or worry about fraud.
