HOME - One Earth for All! EARTH ARTS nw is an Arts and Humanities program based in Portland, OR.

Since 2003, we’ve integrated learning and awareness of Pacific NW eco-systems, history and culture into outcome-based art activities and events. Expanding our outreach in 2016 we are now partnering with Portland’s Cerimon House, a non-profit Humanities and Cultural Arts organization in NE Portland. Our goals encompass work with children, families and the community-at-large. We continue to support

Dreaming Earth Press 03/04/2022

Earth Arts NW is on permanent hiatus, but our work continues through collaboration with regional partners and Robin's publication venue: Dreaming Earth Press. Dreaming Earth Press is launching an imprint for children in 2022 entitled Storieseed.

Storieseed books are created to help kids imagine and prepare to shape their future – one that nurtures life, rebalances the health of our planet home, joyfully embraces creativity and self-awareness, while also promoting nature learning and a peaceful, equitable world. In 2003 at just this time of year, Judith Yeckel and I launched our first Earth Arts NW residencies in Portland. Ten years later, Earth Arts programming comes to a close. I'm deeply grateful to the many individuals and foundations who made this work possible, and to the Earth & Spirit Council for its long-standing sponsorship. I want to celebrate Earth Art's teaching artists and the thousands of children whose imaginations, curiosity, dreams and artistry enriched our lives. So . . . I'll be posting artwork from time to time, created by our wonderful dreamers . . . children of the 21st century. For children's privacy, no names are shared.

Mapping Me Student Self Portraits 12/12/2012

Mapping Me Student Projects created in the classrooms of Master Teachers Lois Read and Bonnie Jones at Harvey Scott School in Portland Oregon. Students created personal symbols that connected to their families, culture, personal identity and goals for the future then composed them inside a silhouette of themselves.

Earth Arts NW worked with hundreds of students this spring to support their learning about regional species. Students simultaneously created works of art to honor their fellow "citizens of Cascadia," as you see below. The Council of Cascadians project was co-sponsored by The Regional Arts and Culture Council and the Earth and Spirit Council.
