Our laboratory is mainly involved in investigating electron microscopic/immunocytochemical changes in synapses within the brain following various drug treatment procedures or lesions of the nigrostriatal pathway, as a model for Parkinson’s disease (PD), and correlating these findings with functional/protein changes using in vivo microdialysis/westerns and motor behaviors in mice. I'm trying to do Golgi-Cox staining in the Biowave. This sample took 5 1/2 hours from start to finish vs. ~2.5 weeks! Now to get the light microscope optimized for taking the higher mag stacks that I need to properly analyze such things!

I have been asked about the dishes we use to process tissue, (both IHC and em processing) in the microwave, so here is the info: Kapsto from Poeppelmann (www.poeppelmann.com/us/kapsto). We use the GPN-600B- series. We use different sizes depending on what and how many peices of tissue and they have a huge number of different sizes.
