✨ T-minus one day!! ✨
Tomorrow is the big Friendtorship showcase — and today we’ve been busy hanging art, laughing, climbing ladders, and getting everything just right for our Walt Morey ✕ PSUGD exhibition: Threads of Us 💛

Our middle-schoolers and PSU designers have poured so much heart into these pieces: companion species, collagraph prints, sewn magical objects, origin stories, and worlds built entirely from imagination and care. 🌟

And most importantly, bonds that will last a lifetime.

We can’t wait for you to see what they made — and to celebrate the creativity, kindness, and collaboration that brought it all together.

📅 Tomorrow — Tuesday, Dec 3
📍 Vanport (4th Floor) & FMH (2nd Floor)
⏰ 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM

Come through, bring a friend, and feel the magic. ✨

✨ Friendtorship Exhibition – December 3 ✨

Come celebrate our PSU.GD ✕ Walt Morey Middle School collab on Tuesday, December 3! We’re hosting a special showcase of artwork created through a mentorship between middle schoolers and PSU design students.

Inspired by artist Marie Watt—whose work honors storytelling, community, and everyday materials—students explored memory, mythology, and connection through:

🖨️ collagraph prints
🪡 sewn “magical” everyday objects
🌟 imaginative origin stories + companion species

Together, they imagined themselves as beings building a shared world—and we can’t wait to share what they’ve made.

📅 Tuesday, December 3
📍 College of Education Vanport Building – 4th Floor
📍 Fariborz Maseeh Hall – 2nd Floor
⏰ 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM

Come celebrate creativity, collaboration, and the power of community. 💛

Coming Together, Stitch by Stitch💭

Our Friendtorship mentors and mentees from Walt Morey Middle School explore the art of sewing! Students recreated everyday objects through a mythical lens and worked together to create a tapestry honoring the little things that shape us.

There’s nothing like watching a print reveal. 😭💛
Our Friendtorship Our mentees jumped into collagraphs— layering materials, testing textures, and learning by doing. Proud of every single print that came through the press. So much joy, mess, and magic in the studio. 🖨️💙

Collagraphs, creation, and community 💭

Our Friendtorship mentors and mentees from Walt Morey Middle School came together to create collagraphs - a printmaking technique which allowed the students to design, cut and glue shapes to their board, ink the plate, and use a printing press!

Check out these student pieces celebrating the values which hold us together.

Art, ink, and a whole lot of connection 💭
Our Friendtorship mentors and mentees from Walt Morey Middle School visited the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art to explore Storywork: The Prints of Marie Watt — a celebration of memory, making, and the threads that tie us together.
Back in the studio, we rolled up our sleeves for collagraph prints, creativity, and shared laughter!

Food Chain: Stories of Food and Us is a collection of stories currently being produced in collaboration between Walt Morey Middle School students, PSU college students, and local independently owned food businesses near PSU. This Friendtorship project explores the intersection of food and identity. The middle school and college students make art around a meal with a specific story that connects to who they are as a person. These projects included

This project culminated in a street activation, participatory art experience, and art exhibition on Montgomery Street Plaza at Portland State University in tandem with PSU’s Hunger & Houselessness Awareness Week — a week that serves as a time for reflection and action, shedding light on the dual issues of hunger and houselessness, which impact millions of Americans.
