If only you could see the amount of baking weâve been doing over here. Muffins, tarts with lemon curd and fresh berries, homemade pasta that left flour and egg yoke on absolutely everything.
But itâs less about the baked goods than it is about the conscious time with my girls. The confidence they are building to bake things completely on their own or together. The responsibility and tools learned when the cracked egg goes all over the counter and the floor. the opportunity for me to say âoh thatâs alright. It happens.â And then model what we do next. And the joy they have when they get to bring homemade baked goods to their friends saying âI made this for you!â.
Itâs more than just baking. And Iâll remind myself of this on my 9 thousandth time cleaning up a few left over messy spots of the kitchen â€ïž
This is me finding time for gratitude in a messy moment. Joy and gratitude can be incredible acts of defiance in the face of sadness, anxiety, or depression. They also lighten a heavy load when we find small bits of light through the tears.

You donât have to do the grandest thing in the world.

It doesn't need to be perfect.
You just need to do what you can, with what you have, starting right where you are.
You canât control everything that happens to you, but you can choose to do something with what youâre given and take back some control of your own.

3 things for better mental health this weekend.
1. Grab a paper or journal and write down your thoughts and feelings, as they are, unedited. Writing out your feelings just as they are helps free up mental space.
2. Make room
for micro-moments. Try to quiet email, social and work to enjoy the sweet moments of life that bring you joy. Snuggle and play with your dog, tend to your garden or plants, enjoy the sun and a cup of tea. These small moments help gratitude to flourish.
3. Go for a walk and purposefully note 5 things you see. Connecting with your breathe and the natural beauty around you helps calm the nervous system and reconnect you with the present moment
