Throughout Childpeace’s 50th Year, we are highlighting moments that demonstrate what it means for Childpeace students, parents, faculty, and alums to belong to themselves, to others, and to their community. Jenny recently shared her family’s Childpeace story with us. We hope you’ll read about her toddler baking bread and building community at https://www.childpeace.org/baking-bread-building-a-community 💛🔗
Each memory shared helps us honor five decades of Montessori education in Portland. We would love to hear from you as well! Reach out to us if you’d like to share your story of belonging.

Recently our Upper Elementary students led a talent show for our community, family, and friends. The event was organized by two students to support their service projects. Admission to the Talent Show cost a food or clothing donation, and donations were abundant! The talents had wide variety and truly demonstrated the independence of Upper Elementary students. Thank you to all that attended and participated 💛💙🧡

Let’s highlight another excellent Childpeace Guide 🌟 Maren Thomas has been a Children’s House Guide at Childpeace for over 20 years, and continues to see the children with fresh eyes. What a gift! Maren undertook a special project for us this school year — starting a brand new Children’s House class with children ages 2.5–3. She will grow this community to maturity over the next two school years. Maren brings her love of the natural world to her work with Montessori theory and method, guiding the children with expert observation skills and an ability to see each child as an individual.
