Family Clay is a space for children and their adults to create with clay. We use hand building techniques to tap creativity, to build hand and body strength, to relax, to have fun, and to connect with each other. Teachers
Julianne Stevens and AnnMarie Szok, have strong and diverse experience as teachers and artists, an
d are thrilled to offer their guidance during workshop times. Participants are encouraged to try something they learned during demonstrations when completing projects. Teachers are available for consultation between demonstrations. Fundamental clay techniques, such as slipping and scoring, slab rolling, and coil building will be integrated into projects. Each piece of work requires two firings. Before a piece can go through its first firing, it must be completely dry. After the first firing, work will be available at workshop for glazing. Firing is done off-site. There is a 1-2 week turn around between the time a piece is ready to go to firing and the time it is available to work further on or to take home. Behavior
If a child doesn't respond to multiple requests to change a particular behavior, parents will be contacted to pick child up. This is for the safety of all participants. Children 5 and under should be supervised by their parent at all times.
