This spring, the NWA Science Research Program warmly welcomed Dr. Mary Brunkow, Nobel Laureate, to our campus for a special 'science lunch and learn' presentation about her research. Dr. Brunkow is a molecular biologist who won the 2025 Nobel Prize in Medicine. Middle and high school students enjoyed learning about her inspiring molecular biology and genetics research related to the discovery of the FOXP3 gene and its role in immune tolerance. What an incredible opportunity for our students to be inspired by a scientist who has revolutionized modern medical care for cancer treatments, autoimmune diseases and organ transplants. Thank you to our families who made this event possible!

Three cheers for Jorja!! A star of the NWA (and NW Children's Theater) stage, Jorja has been in 24 theatrical productions so far. She dislikes all beans, except the best beans - jelly. Jorja has had 11 animals as pets in the span of her life, and her favorite of all animals is the black bear. Congratulations Jorja! ππ

Three cheers for Rylan!! Whether creating stories, casting and directing plays, improv, making films, or performing on stage, Rylan's creative talents and hard work make an impact on everyone around. Rylan has the best smile in the world and contagious laughter. At age 3 Rylan pretended to be a cat for nearly 6 hours straight (on all fours, meowing, eating from a bowl) and has been acting ever since! Ry has traveled to over 8 countries and is headed to Boston for college. Congrats Rylan!! ππ

Yay for Nini!! When Nini was 7 years old, she created a rap song called "tickle tickle butt cheeks, my son john", and performed it on a stage made of hay bales. At NWA she has channeled this creative energy into theater and vocals. She also regularly sends her poetry out to literary magazines and has been published twice! Nini cuts and colors her own hair; in the past 2 months it has been blue, pink, purple, and red. To Nini, her pitbull Oni is the most important being in the world. If she could, she would spend all her time with him. Congratulations Nini! ππ
