Training the Next Generation of Farmers and Ranchers in Oregon

OFC’s programs combine hands-on training, classroom learning and farm-based experience on a diverse network of commercial family farms in Oregon. OFC offers real world opportunities for both the beginner and the aspiring farmer seeking in-depth training to launch their own farm business. OFC’s land-based network includes farms and ranches in Oregon’s Rogue Valley, Willamette Valley, and Portland a

Last month Fellows and Apprentices gathered for our first of two weekend gatherings this season! We spent our time at the Headwaters Farm Incubator Program near Gresham. Participants were able to learn about soil health with Jen Aron and the wonderful programming available at Headwaters with Rowan Steele. Participants also saw some unique farm equipment demonstrations thanks to Rowan.

It was wonderful to have everyone gathered together for this two day event in a celebration of learning how to take care of this land we get to call home. We can’t wait for our second one this upcoming weekend in the Rogue Valley!!

During the 2021 farming season, Devin worked at Seed to Table, a four-acre organic nonprofit educational farm in Sisters, as an Oregon Farm Corps apprentice. This year, Devin joined the Oregon Farm Corps Board of Directors because she experienced firsthand how transformative the program can be.

“Farming remains inaccessible to many due to financial, educational, and social barriers. Oregon Farm Corps plays a vital role in lowering those barriers to support the next generation of farmers. By supporting the Future Farmers Campaign, you help ensure that Oregon Farm Corps can continue making its programs financially accessible and available to aspiring farmers across Oregon.”

Last year Aayushi moved to Oregon from Ohio after joining the Oregon Farm Corps Apprenticeship program. She apprenticed in 2025 and is now working at Peachwood for a second season! 🙌🏼

Aayushi has returned to this season in an expanded leadership role as their Operations & Communications Lead. In addition to orchard work, she manages social media and newsletters, helps coordinate farm operations and scheduling, and supports team leadership by mentoring newer apprentices and helping keep workflow running smoothly. This role is focused on building leadership, communication, and farm management skills through hands-on experience and increasing responsibility throughout the season.

OFC programs support the growth of future farmers.

Meet one of the incredible supporters behind our Spring Campaign: Mickey Willenbring, OFC Board Member!

Growing up in poverty and navigating an unconventional path into agriculture, she knows firsthand how hard it can be to build a future in farming without support, resources, or connections. Today, as a ranch owner, she believes deeply in creating the kind of opportunities she once needed herself.

Through Oregon Farm Corps’ Future Farmers Fund, beginning farmers and ranchers can access training, mentorship, and continued support to build their farming dreams.

“Being a recipient of scholarship support is about more than job training. It’s validation that EVERY ONE belongs in agriculture.”

Your support helps change the trajectory of individual lives and strengthens the communities those future farmers and ranchers will go on to nourish. Donate to our Spring Future Farmers Campaign at https://bit.ly/OFC-SFFC
