Thank you Young Audiences! I spend most of the school year teaching in public schools in Portland area and Beaverton through programs coordinated through YA. I'm looking forward to another creative year with students.

Mark Caporael invites students to slow down and look closely as they interpret the world around them using a variety of drawing mediums.

Long overdue for a post! I'll update with a list of all the schools and courses I experienced over the school year. This summer I'm teaching at OES and thoroughly enjoying the camps for the third year.

In the middle of a residency at Vernon Elementary and just began another residency at Naas Elementary in Boring, Oregon. Multiple grades and content for both schools. I'm having a blast with these kids! Hope to take photos of student work this week.

This week I had the pleasure of attending a Right Brain Initiative Professional Development day with teachers and teaching artists. These workshops always push me out of my comfort zone and allow me to connect with creative individuals. Looking forward to my upcoming residencies! Thank you Right Brain Iniative

Two weeks ago I had an inspiring three days at the Imagine This! Symposium for teaching artists. I was awarded a generous scholarship to attend. So grateful to Amy Gray, The Portland Art Museum and The Right Brain Initiative. Full of ideas and inspiration over here.

It's been awhile!
I've been busy with an amazing year of teaching art to the inspiring kids of Beaverton School District, Lincoln Street Elementary in Hillsboro, the Corbett Arts Program with Spanish (CAPS) in Springdale and the new Charter school, Kairos PDX with some truly amazing kindergarteners and first graders.
Looking forward to a great season of teaching at Oregon Episcopal School (OES) summer camps. (PS there are still openings to the public.)

Stay tuned for photos of student work and maybe even some of my own...

Hello Friends,

I hope everyone is settling into school well and is looking forward to doing something really fun afterschool. You are? Well that's perfect. We're all set to start our after school illustration class.

This was originally going to be our end of the summer class, but we decided to hold it back as an after school project so everyone could enjoy their vacations. If you remember, this class will be an opportunity for our artists to compose original illustrations from their favorite stories/ books, etc. We'll take this project from concept to sketches, sketch to drawing, drawing to ink/paint, and then a final inking with stylish title lettering.

Class is planned for Wednesdays at 3:30 to 5:30 and there will be 6 sessions beginning Wednesday October 17th. This class is $120.00 and all supplies are provided. There's 7 spots available and if you'd like to enroll please call Mark at 971-269-7689 or email [email protected].

Can't wait to hear from you.
