Soul Care-Angie Fadel

Soul Care-Angie Fadel I am currently taking new clients and am looking to expand the conversation on what Spiritual Direction can look like. It is found in every religious practice.

Spiritual Direction is the ancient art of listening. Across the timeline of history listening to people who are stuck, frustrated, deconstructing, rebuilding and/or needing a place to be heard without judgment has been a human and still is a human need. My desire is to create a safe unhurried space where therapeutic listening happens. I look at Spiritual Direction as a "permission giving" of sorts

. What I mean by that is...there is nothing you might say that would shock me, there is no doubt or pain expressed that would cause me to think less of you. In this way there is nothing off limits in our time together, we together, create a safe place to explore our lives, the reasons we do what we do, and make space for more awareness and presence. I have an MA, SF at George Fox University and also received my certification from GFU. My specialties are Enneagram, Transformational Life workshops (this is curriculum I wrote for my Masters in Spiritual Formation at George Fox and have taught numerous times at the Bridge Church where I pastored for over 7 years), I am an expert in Jungian Intensive Journaling, Body, mind, spirit connection. I write curriculum and lead classes around rage, anger grief and loss (giving permission to feel all our feelings, not just the convenient ones), team building and spiritual formation workshops, as well. I also teach archery and labyrinth as a spiritual/meditative practice. Most Spiritual Direction happens on a monthly basis. Please don't feel confined by this. If something comes up and you would like to meet more frequently, for a period of time please e-mail me or call me and we can discuss the different options available to you. When we are just beginning to meet together I find it is better to meet weekly for the first two or more visits and then taper off to meeting on a monthly basis, unless you prefer otherwise. This gives us a chance to get to know each other and makes our times together run more smoothly. If you find it valuable, in your situation, to meet every week or every other, I am open to that as well. I meet with many people internationally. This can be tricky with time differences, but not impossible to figure out. If you are looking for a safe listening ear please email me and set something up today! Warmly,

Angie Fadel MA, SF

What if the voice beneath your inner critic has been there all along? In this week’s Substack, I explore how to recognize, trust, and act on your Inner Wisdom and how meditative archery can help us reconnect with the part of ourselves that wants us safe, supported, and empowered. There’s a special kind of magic that happens when someone picks up a bow for the first time.

You don’t need experience. You don’t need to arrive calm, confident, or “ready.” You simply arrive—with your body, your breath, your attention—and begin.

Mindful archery is more than learning stance, safety, form, and consistency. It’s a practice of taking up space, slowing down, noticing where we hold tension, and allowing ourselves to miss, laugh, reset, and try again.

On the range, we build strength and skill, but we also build a more trusting relationship with ourselves.

There’s room for depth, play, handmade targets, snacks, cheering each other on, and the unforgettable feeling of sending an arrow flying. 🏹

If you’ve been craving a practice that is physical, reflective, community-centered, and genuinely fun, mindful archery may be waiting for you.

Come breathe. Come shoot. Come begin again.

I have always placed a high value on personal vulnerability. The life I’ve lived deserves my honesty, and I have learned that vulnerability is one way I keep choosing freedom.
That doesn’t mean I’m careless about who I share with or how much I share. I trust my intuition about what to reveal and to whom. It just means I will always lean toward vulnerability.
Why? Because other people’s vulnerability has set me free time and time again. It has reminded me I’m not alone, that this is survivable, and that I am not broken just because someone tried to break me.
I also believe that when I choose vulnerability freely, I am less likely to let it be used against me. That doesn’t mean people haven’t tried, or won’t try again, that I’m forcing anything, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. It just means I have chosen it. Archery has taught me something about that too: you stand at the line, you breathe, you let yourself be seen trying, and then you release. There is power in the stance! There is power in taking up space! There is power in letting yourself be seen!

What does it mean to be believed? To have someone really believe you without you having to justify any part of your story or make right someone else’s story.
I can tell you what it feels like personally to be believed and not believed.
Let me start with the most painful of the two. Not being believed! What people are actually saying without saying it is - You are a liar! That the pain and trauma that you lived through, didn’t happen, or you should get over it! Sometimes if they are religious they say, you need to forgive! While really meaning get the “f**k” over this! You are making everyone around you uncomfortable.
People use phrases like: blood is thicker than water, it’s water under the bridge, let bygones be bygones, forgive and forget, and bury the hatchet. All of these suck by the way! If it was that easy to bury the hatchet we would have already!
How can a person who has been broken in more ways than they will ever be able to count, from the moment they came into this world - get over it! They will be putting the pieces of themselves back together for the rest of their lives, so no they will not be getting over it anytime soon. Everything in life can feel HARD from getting up in the morning, staying on top of chores, meeting physical needs, making appointments things that people without trauma may not have to think twice about.
Things to consider when dealing with trauma...
